Health Information

Arkansas law requires immunization for all students enrolled in public schools.

  • Polio: Vaccine required - three oral Sabin doses through age 18 with the last dose since the age of four.
  • Diphtheria-Tetanus (DTP or TD): Vaccine required - three doses with the last dose since the age of four.
  • Rubella: Vaccine required - one dose since the first birthday.
  • Measles: Vaccine required - two doses since the first birthday.
  • Mumps: Vaccine required - one dose since the first birthday.
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccine required - three doses before completing school year for all, kindergarten, 7th grade, and transfer students. The alternative 2-doses scheduled may be used for students 11-15 years of age.
  • Varicella: Vaccine required - one dose on or after first birthday - one dose required for all kindergarten students. A parent/guardian's history of disease may be accepted in lieu of vaccine.

State law mandates that students who transfer from another school either within the state or from out-of-state be given a maximum of 30 calendar days to produce proof of immunizations. The only proof of immunizations to be accepted will be a certificate by a licensed physician, the health department, or a military physician. Dates of vaccine administration must be provided. Terms such as up-to-date, complete, and adequate are not acceptable.

If the immunizations are not completed within 30 days, the student will not be allowed to remain in school. For more information regarding immunizations, please see the Parent Student Handbook.
