Requirements for Graduation

Seniors must attend school a full day (ACT 675 of 2004), and they must be enrolled in at least 6 academic courses.

A maximum of 2 credits may be taken in summer school per year. Participation in summer school must be approved by the principal or the high school counselor.

Students must successfully complete required English and mathematics courses at each grade level before they can enroll in the upper level courses.

To be eligible to receive a diploma, a student must attend an accredited school for a minimum of eight (8) semesters in grades 9 through 12. Exceptions to this are students who make arrangements to graduate early and have met the twenty-two (22) credit requirement. Summer school or correspondence studies will not substitute as semesters except through the approval of the principal.

Correspondence Courses

High school correspondence work is not encouraged but may be permitted and accepted on an individual basis. Credits for correspondence will be granted upon approval by the principal before enrollment in the course. A maximum of three (3) units of correspondence will be allowed toward meeting graduation requirements.

TYPES OF DIPLOMAS

Honor Diploma Graduates

Honor Diploma Graduates will be designated as those graduates who meet the following criteria: 

Cum Laude ('with praise'): weighted GPA of 3.20+, at least 25 credits with at least two AP in two different subject areas. 

Magna Cum Laude ('with great praise'): weighted GPA of 3.75+, at least 25 credits with at least three AP in two different subject areas. 

Summa Cum Laude ('with highest praise'): weighted GPA of 3.95+, at least 25 credits with at least four AP in two different subject areas. 

AP CAPSTONE: Students must have successfully completed AP Seminar, AP Research, and four AP courses.
