Our Mission

The Arkansas High School Library Media Center supports the district’s commitment to increasing literacy and preparing students for college, career, and lifelong learning. Through our library program, we:

Ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.
Empower students to be critical thinkers, ethical researchers, and enthusiastic readers.
Provide access to advanced academic resources, test prep, and career/college readiness tools.
Create opportunities for collaboration, creativity, and independent study in a 21st-century learning environment.

At AHS, the Library Media Center — affectionately known as “The Pig Spot” — serves as a hub for academic success and personal growth. With access to a full range of print and digital resources, students are supported in their journey toward graduation and beyond.

Our library helps achieve literacy goals by:

Offering a diverse collection of Young Adult and Adult Fiction as well as a robust Nonfiction section.
Providing ProQuest and other academic databases to support scholarly research and writing.
Supporting college and career readiness with resources for ACT/SAT prep, scholarships, and applications.
Creating welcoming spaces for collaboration, tutoring, and quiet study, including extended access through Night Library hours.

Hours of Operation

Regular Hours

Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:40 PM
Open before school, during lunch breaks, and after school
Students may also visit during the day with a teacher’s pass

Night Library

Mondays & Thursdays, 4:00 – 6:00 PM
Administrator: Nancy Huddleston
Services available: make-up testing, tutoring, homework help, and computer access

All students and faculty are welcome in the library. We also invite your suggestions for new books, resources, and classroom support materials!
